You Can Change If You Really Want To

You Can Change If You Really Want To

I wonder if today’s the day you’ll finally look at your procrastinating self in the mirror and tell it where it can get off.

Do you have any idea of the vast, untapped power that you have available to you to dramatically change your life?

We celebrated the resurrection on Sunday, that’s all well and good.

But did you know that the same power that raised Jesus from the dead is now dwelling inside of you?

Are you really telling me you can’t change and become the person God created you to become right now?

That’s BS and you know it.

You don’t change because you don’t know what you have.

The monks who escaped the lifeless, secularized church of the 4th and 5th centuries and scurried out to the caves of the desert, often shared a story amongst themselves.

It went like this:

Abba Lot went to see Abba Joseph and said to him, “Abba, as far as I can I say my little office, I fast a little, I pray and meditate, I live in peace and as far as I can, I purify my thoughts. What else can I do?”

Then the old man stood up and stretched his hands towards heaven. His fingers became like ten lamps of fire and he said to him, “If you will, you can become all flame.”

Why don’t we Christians change the way scripture promises us we can?
